Soka Gakkai Malaysia (SGM) has been commissioned by Professor Tay Lian Soo, a renowned Sinologist in Malaysia, to publish the Complete Works of Hsu Yun-Tsiao (Complete Works in short). With the aim of preserving and passing down academic heritage and national culture, SGM undertook this great mission since 2004 and took 17 years to complete the Complete Works of 8 volumes in 23 books in 2021.

Hsu Yun-Tsiao was born in Jiangsu Province, China in 1905. At the age of 26, he came to the South in Malaya, until his death at the age of 76 in 1981. Throughout the 50 years of his academic career, he devoted himself to the study of Southeast Asia and overseas Chinese. His research, compilation, annotation, translation, collation, revision, and teaching have yielded fruitful results. He gained praise by later generations as “a scholar of a generation,” “a multi-talented man” and “a leading figure in Southeast Asian research and history.”

SGM hopes that the publication of this complete works will enrich the collections of the libraries of Southeast Asian universities and colleges, benefit teachers and students, and provide academic researchers with precious historical materials, making concrete contributions towards the cultural and historical construction of our nation.

To celebrate this grand occasion of cultural and educational significance, SGM will hold the book launching ceremony on 23 October, 2022. Details as follows:
