Connecting Artists Globally through “The 1st IACA Art Exhibition”

On 16 March, “The 1st International Association of Creative Arts (IACA) Exhibition” was officially opened at Wisma Kebudayaan SGM, officiated by Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture division secretary (culture) Dr Tan Awang Besar.

Mainly organised by IACA and SGM, the exhibition themed “Artistic Coexistence and Prosperity” featured artworks by 90 artists from 19 countries and territories including Australia, Finland, Korea and Mexico. It soughtto promote cross-cultural dialogue, artistic collaboration and mutual development of the aesthetic ecosystem in participating countries.

Dr Tan Awang Besar highlighted the exhibition’s role in celebrating cultural diversity and hoped that it would reaffirm the Malaysian National Cultural Policy’s commitment to cultural advancement.

In her opening remarks, IACA president Shirley Chu expressed her hope that this art exhibition will elevate the quality and standard of paintings in Malaysia. She also acknowledged the crucial role of art in societal and spiritual development.

Meanwhile, SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai mentioned SGM’s belief in the unifying power of art to foster understanding among people from diverse backgrounds.

To complement the exhibition, held from 16 March–14 April, exhibition curator Dr Ding Yu Ming provided a sneak peek into the exhibition through an online art talk on 9 March. He guided the audience to analyse artworks through three pivotal lenses: narrative, composition and imaginative space.
