TSS Holds Mindful Parenting 2.0 Talk

On 11 July 2026, Tadika Seri Soka (TSS) held a Mindful Parenting 2.0 talk entitled “My Volcano Erupted Again! What Should I Do?” presented by senior psychological counsellor Wong Siew Lee. The talk attracted around 70 parents.

The seminar focused on the pressures and emotional challenges parents face in raising children, encouraging them to become more aware of their own emotions. Parents were introduced to the S.T.O.P. mindfulness practice – Stop, Take a breath, Observe and Proceed – to help them respond to their children in a calmer and more constructive manner. She explained that repairing the parent-child relationship begins with parents themselves. She emphasised that mindful parenting is not about never becoming angry, but about being willing to repair the relationship after emotions have subsided while continuing to understand both oneself and one’s child.

During the question-and-answer session, parents actively shared the challenges they encountered in raising their children and engaged in in-depth discussions with the speaker. Drawing on both her professional expertise in psychological counselling and her own parenting experience, she responded to their questions, helping parents gain a deeper understanding of how to practise mindful parenting and apply what they had learnt in their daily lives.
