Soka Community Day Activities Held Nationwide

As part of Soka Community Day, several SGM state organisations organised a wide range of community activities in July 2026, including talks on legal awareness and parenting, programmes supporting children with special needs, family bonding activities and culture performances. The events attracted members, Soka friends and local residents of all ages.

On 5 July, SGM Perak held a Soka Family and Friendship Day at its culture centre, attracting around 500 participants. The programme featured culture performances and a legal talk entitled “Direct Scams Versus Indirect Scams,” presented by Kenny Lee Jun How, a lawyer and member of the SGM Justice Group. Drawing on real-life cases, he explained common scam tactics and the relevant legal issues, helping participants strengthen their awareness of fraud prevention. 

On 10 July, the SGM Kedah Culture Centre hosted a Soka Community Day attended by more than 230 participants. Activities included a charity breakfast sale, health screenings, traditional games, experience-sharing sessions and a parenting seminar. A registered counsellor Brenda Ong delivered a talk titled “From Controlling to Understanding,” sharing how understanding and companionship can help build effective communication between parents and children, enabling parents to better respond to their children’s developmental needs.

The next day, the SGM Negeri Sembilan Culture Centre hosted a Soka Community Day focusing on supporting children with special needs. The event featured a talk on understanding children with special needs by paediatric development specialist Dr Khoo Chai Soon, who explained their developmental characteristics and appropriate ways to support them. The young men’s and young women’s divisions also organised empathy-based experiential games, enabling participants to gain a deeper understanding of and respect for children with special needs through first-hand experience, while promoting a more inclusive society.

On 12 July, SGM Kedah’s Perlis Chapter organised a Soka Family Day at SJKC Khay Beng in Kuala Perlis, attracting more than 70 members and Soka friends. Through nostalgic games, circle-sharing sessions and faith experience presentations, the event encouraged interaction across generations. Senior participants shared their life experiences, young people gained inspiration from their stories, and children experienced the warmth of the Soka family through companionship and meaningful exchanges. The event was filled with laughter and characterised by a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Through talks, experiential activities and family-centred programmes, the events brought care and compassion into community life, strengthening parent-child communication, intergenerational interaction and neighbourhood connections. They also reflected SGM’s commitment to promoting community care, educational development and social harmony, enabling participants to build friendships through mutual understanding and support while contributing to more inclusive and caring communities.
