Kuala Lumpur North Soka Community Day Hosts Legal and Health Talks

On 5 July 2026, Kepong South Zone and Petaling Jaya West Zone of Kuala Lumpur North State held Soka Community Day at the SGM Selayang Centre and SGM Petaling Jaya Centre, respectively. Through legal and health talks, the events enhanced public awareness of legal rights and health, attracting around 320 participants.

At the Selayang venue, lawyers Jason Kong and Mak Kah Keong delivered a talk on human rights and legal awareness, moderated by fellow lawyer Grayson Tee. The speakers provided an in-depth explanation of police investigation procedures and the criminal justice system, while outlining important legal considerations during the investigation process to help participants better understand how to safeguard their rights under the law.

In light of the increasing number of scams involving the rental or lending of bank accounts, the speakers also urged participants never to rent out or lend their bank accounts, as they could unknowingly become “money mules” for criminal syndicates. They encouraged participants to remain vigilant to avoid becoming victims of fraud or inadvertently breaking the law.

Meanwhile, at the Petaling Jaya venue, Dr Johan Siow from Segamat Hospital, Johor, delivered a health talk on fall prevention. He explained the common risk factors associated with falls and shared practical strategies for prevention, as well as the appropriate steps to take following a fall. Dr Siow encouraged participants to adopt healthy lifestyle habits, including regular exercise and a balanced diet, while also creating a safer home environment to reduce the risk of falls and safeguard the wellbeing of themselves and their families.

Both talks addressed issues closely related to everyday life, equipping participants with practical legal knowledge and fall prevention strategies that they can apply in their daily lives to help build safer and healthier communities.
