TSS Alumni Reunion Celebrates Hope, Courage and Friendship
On 17 May 2026, the Soka Bloom of Excellence, consisting of Tadika Seri Soka (TSS) alumni, organised a reunion at the kindergarten, with some 250 participants joining both in person and online. Alumni returned to their familiar campus to revisit cherished memories and friendships formed during their formative years, while continuing the spirit of Soka education through intergenerational exchange. Distinguished guests in attendance included TSS chairperson Dr Christopher Boey, principal Ho Lee Choo, adviser Koh Sia Feai, members of the TSS Board of Governors, as well as alumni and representatives from Soka University in Japan and Soka University of America.
The event began with participants revisiting the school motto, “Strong! Righteous! Lively!” and singing the school song together, creating a warm and nostalgic atmosphere. Soka Bloom of Excellence vice-president Yap Yuan Tian shared that the values cultivated through Soka education serve as important guiding principles throughout life, and encouraged alumni to uphold founder Daisaku Ikeda’s humanistic educational philosophy by contributing towards peace, culture and education. Principal Ho warmly welcomed alumni and expressed appreciation to the organising committee for their dedicated efforts in making the event possible.
Dr Christopher Boey shared that the name of the alumni group was given by Mr Ikeda in 2014, and that the founder’s guideline “hope, courage and friendship” was presented as encouragement for alumni to continue advancing steadfastly in life. During the sharing session, Dr Sherman Koh Chee Hong from the Class of 1995 and Ng Enn Li from the Class of 2000 reflected on how Soka education had shaped their personal growth and life direction. They emphasised that Soka education not only nurtures knowledge, but also cultivates the spirit of believing in oneself and contributing to society.
In the second half of the programme, alumni revisited fond memories through a campus tour, interactive games and art activities. Participants also left their fingerprints on a commemorative artwork at the Founder’s Corner, symbolically representing the bonds of the “TSS family.”
This gathering not only reunited alumni from different graduating classes, but also ensured that the spirit of Soka education continues to be passed down from one cohort to the next, spreading positive values and hope throughout society.
