Nationwide Soka Community Day Promotes Community Engagement, Family Education and Sustainable Development

 

In May 2026, Soka Community Day activities were held nationwide, featuring a wide range of programmes such as an education fair, a family education talk and a blood donation drive. The events encouraged community interaction while raising awareness of education, family relationships and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), attracting enthusiastic participation from members, students, parents and local residents.

Negeri Sembilan: Education Fair Helps Youth Explore Future Pathways

On 3 May, SGM Negeri Sembilan organised the Soka Community Day cum High School Division Education Fair at its culture centre, with around 80 students and parents in attendance. A total of 14 academic and career experience booths were set up, covering fields such as banking and finance, law, education, healthcare, engineering, beauty, entrepreneurship and food and beverage. A special booth was also prepared to help parents and students better understand university life and learning environments.

The programme also included podcast-style sharing sessions and personal experiences centred on the topic of how parents can positively guide their children in choosing future fields of study, highlighting the importance of support and attentive listening. Speakers encouraged students to pursue their passions confidently and move towards their future aspirations.

Kuala Lumpur: Family Education Talk Attracts Over 450 Attendees

On 10 May, Kuala Lumpur South state held a Soka Community Day at the SGM Culture Centre, featuring a family education talk titled “From Controlling to Understanding” by registered counsellor Brenda Ong. The event attracted over 450 participants.

Brenda Ong explained that many modern parenting challenges are closely linked to changes in society, including dual-income households, digital lifestyles and the widespread use of social media. She encouraged parents to move from “control” to “connection,” from “lecturing” to “listening first,” and from “correcting behaviour” to “understanding emotions”, so that they can become people their children feel comfortable approaching and confiding in.

Sabah: Blood Donation Drive and Community Day Promote the Spirit of Caring

Also on 10 May, SGM Sabah held a Soka Community Day at the Sabah Culture Centre and organised a blood donation campaign in collaboration with Queen Elizabeth Hospital,successfully collecting 36 units of blood in support of the local healthcare system.

Around 200 leaders, members and Soka friends participated in the event. In addition to experience sharing sessions, appreciation speeches and dance performances by the high school division, a natural detergent workshop was also held to promote environmental awareness and responsible consumption in line with the SDGs. The programme concluded with a harvest festival dance celebration, reflecting the spirit of multicultural exchange.

Johor: Soka Family Day Strengthens Community Interaction and Promotes SDGs

Meanwhile, SGM Johor South One Zone organised a Soka Family Day at the Johor Culture Centre on 10 May, attended by nearly 500 leaders, members and guests.

The programme featured cultural performances, faith experience sharing and various interactive activities, including financial planning and  parenting talks, coffee dialogue sessions and an eco-friendly reuse market. In conjunction with Mother’s Day, appreciation songs were also presented, adding to the warm atmosphere.

Among the highlights was the clothing recycling campaign, which encouraged the public to reuse second-hand items, reduce waste and practise sustainable living, receiving an enthusiastic response from participants.

Through educational, family, environmental and social-oriented activities, Soka Community Day nationwide fostered interaction and mutual care within local communities. At the same time, people are encouraged to practise sustainable values through everyday actions, taking meaningful steps towards building a warmer, more supportive and hopeful society.
