SISM Open Day Highlights Humanistic Education Philosophy and Unique Learning Environment

On 9 May 2026, Soka International School Malaysia (SISM) held an Open Day, welcoming parents and students onto campus to gain a deeper understanding of the school’s humanistic educational philosophy and unique learning environment through campus tours, experiential classes and interactive sessions.

The event commenced with a welcoming address by principal Dr Wendy Yee. She later moderated a parent forum titled “Nurturing Minds: A Parenting Forum on Children’s Wellbeing and Communication,” together with school counsellor Chin Lek Xin and paediatrician Dr Bee Boon Peng. The session focused on topics related to children’s emotional and physical development as well as parent-child communication, which resonated strongly with attending parents. Student representatives also shared their learning and growth experiences at SISM, speaking with confidence and sincerity that reflected the school’s nurturing environment.

In addition, the school organised a variety of experiential lessons and showcase activities covering design and technology, science, cultural arts and English. Exhibitions on global citizenship, cybersecurity and social and emotional learning (SEL) were also featured. A student-led campus tour became one of the highlights of the event, allowing visitors to experience the atmosphere of SISM from the students’ perspective. The school also introduced its A-Levels programme and scholarship information to support students in planning their future studies.

Through various activities, the Open Day demonstrated SISM’s humanistic educational approach while providing parents and students with a meaningful platform to learn more about the school. The event enabled visitors to gain a clearer understanding of the school’s learning environment and academic pathways, further reflecting SISM’s mission of fostering the holistic development of students.
