Australian Artist Dr Alex DeGaris-Boot Visits MDPH

On 7 May 2026, Dr Alex DeGaris-Boot, an Australian multimedia artist, visited the Mentor and Disciple Peace Hall (MDPH) at Wisma Kebudayaan SGM. He was joined by Australian artist and curator Kat Bell and Malaysian artist Shaq Koyok, both of whom had previously visited the MDPH.

During the tour, Dr DeGaris-Boot learnt about the three founding presidents of the Soka Gakkai and SGI President Ikeda’s commitment to peace. He was inspired by the belief that a change in one individual can transform the world, as well as President Ikeda’s dialogues with global figures and Peace Proposals to the United Nations. Reflecting on the tour, he said, “The tour was very inspiring and aligned with my pacifist beliefs.”

Dr Alex was also given a tour of the “Our Beautiful Earth” Daisaku Ikeda’s photography exhibition and the ongoing SGM collection exhibition, “Timeless Art Legacy – Exhibition of Artworks Donated by Sim Tiak Choo.”
