Chinese Arts Delegation Visits WKSGM, Expanding Cultural Exchange and Fostering Artistic Dialogue
On 21 April 2026, a 15-member arts delegation from China visited Wisma Kebudayaan SGM (WKSGM). The delegation was in Malaysia to attend the ASEAN Culture and Art Creation Season International Exhibition (Malaysia) 2026 and took the opportunity to engage in cultural exchange activities.
The delegation was led by Meng Guanglu, vice-chairperson of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles (CFLAC), vice-chairperson of the China Theatre Association, chairperson of the Tianjin Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and a renowned contemporary Peking Opera artist and performer. They were received by SGM president Johnny Ng and others, and were guided by Dato’ Sim Tiak Choo on a tour of the SGM collection exhibition, “Timeless Art Legacy – Exhibition of Artworks Donated by Sim Tiak Choo.” Members of the delegation expressed admiration for the artworks and acknowledged the exhibition’s positive role in promoting regional artistic exchange.
The delegation also visited the Mentor and Disciple Peace Hall, gaining a deeper understanding of the humanistic philosophy advocated by the Soka Gakkai, as well as the ideals and efforts of SGI president Daisaku Ikeda in advancing global peace through cultural exchange and dialogue.
Zhao Mingguang, executive chairperson and China’s chief representative for the Thai-ASEAN+6 Business Promotion Association, who served as the visit coordinator, expressed appreciation for SGM’s warm reception and the thoughtful exhibition arrangements. He also commended SGM’s longstanding efforts in promoting arts and cultural exchange, and expressed hope for further collaboration in the future.
