Celebrating Cultural Diversity through Dance At the Negeri Sembilan Rhythms Festival

On 27 June 2026, SGM Negeri Sembilan was invited to perform at the opening ceremony of the Negeri Sembilan Rhythms Festival. The three-day festival was officially opened by caretaker Menteri Besar YAB Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Aminuddin Harun as part of the Visit Negeri Sembilan 2026 campaign, with the aim of promoting tourism and celebrating Malaysia’s rich multicultural heritage.

Among the distinguished guests were the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) deputy secretary-general (tourism) Chua Choon Hwa, Negeri Sembilan state secretary Dato’ Mohd Zafir Ibrahim, caretaker Negeri Sembilan Tourism, Arts and Culture Committee chairperson Nicole Tan Lee Koon, and the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN) director-general Mohd Amran Mohd Haris.

Six SGM Negeri Sembilan dancers joined performers from the Negeri Sembilan branch of JKKN in presenting Tari Piring (porcelain plate dance), and the theme songs of the festival and the Visit Malaysia Year, highlighting cultural exchange and the spirit of unity through diversity.

Other attractions included a 24 festive drums performance, a traditional Malay costume showcase, a decorated bridal sedan chair competition and a variety of food stalls. The festival drew more than 10,000 visitors, offering them an opportunity to experience the vibrant multicultural heritage of Negeri Sembilan.
