SGM Performs at 2026 Citrawarna Malaysia, Promoting Cultural Exchange

On 25 July 2026, in conjunction with Visit Malaysia 2026, Citrawarna 2026 featured its signature Colours of Parade at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur. SGM was invited to participate in this national cultural event, with 10 performers joining other dancers to present a Perak traditional dance, showcasing the state’s unique cultural heritage to both local and international audiences.

Some 3,500 performers took part in the celebration, representing Malaysia’s 13 states and three Federal Territories in a vibrant showcase of Malaysia’s diverse cultural communities. Traditional costumes, music, dance and cultural performances highlighted the richness of Malaysia’s cultural heritage. The event was officially opened by Prime Minister YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, accompanied by Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister YB Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing and Deputy Minister YB Chiew Choon Man.

Organised by Tourism Malaysia, the event was supported by Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Warisan KL, the National Department for Culture and Arts (JKKN), Istana Budaya and the National Textile Museum. In addition to the cultural parade and stage performances, the event featured food and beverage stalls, cultural experience booths, arts and crafts exhibitions, heritage demonstrations, traditional games and interactive activities, creating an immersive cultural experience for the public and tourists alike.

Through its participation in this national cultural celebration, SGM joined performers from across the country in showcasing Malaysia’s rich and diverse cultural heritage while promoting cultural exchange and the values of diversity, inclusion and harmonious coexistence.

SGM has participated in Citrawarna events from time to time for over 20 years, strengthening cultural exchange and collaboration in our nation.
