Nationwide Correspondents Training Enhances Reporting and Photography Skills

On 14 June 2026, the SGM Publications Department conducted a nationwide online training session for correspondents, attended by some 50 participants. With kosen-rufu activities increasing across the country, the training aimed to enhance correspondents’ writing, communication and photography skills, enabling them to submit news reports to COSMIC News more promptly and accurately.

During the training, associate editor Loo Yin Hui first reviewed the preparatory work required for event reporting, including methods of gathering information and key considerations when conducting interviews. COSMIC News coordinator Goh Lim Erng then shared tips on news writing, encouraging correspondents to incorporate local characteristics into their reports to make them more engaging.

This was followed by a session by correspondent group coordinator Eng Joo Min, who explained the principles of using event photographs, the distinction between reference and official photographs, and their appropriate applications. She also encouraged correspondents to work closely with photographers to further improve the quality of reports.

Senior photographer Lum Heng subsequently conducted a photography workshop, introducing essential event photography techniques and pre- and post-shoot preparations. He encouraged correspondents to develop photography skills to capture events from various perspectives.

In his closing remarks, assistant department head Dinesh Chandren expressed his appreciation for the continued dedication and contributions of correspondents nationwide, emphasising their important role in COSMIC News. Drawing from The New Human Revolution, he encouraged them to embody the spirit of mentor and disciple, maintain strong conviction, deepen their understanding of the fundamental principles of publication work, and become voices that spread hope and encouragement while contributing to the achievement of the 8,000-youth shakubuku goal by 18 November.

Through this training session, correspondents further strengthened their reporting and photography skills and renewed their determination to share inspiring stories and members’ efforts throughout the country, continuing to advance as communicators of hope.
