National Great Wall Group PICs Training Course Strengthens Spirit of Protecting the Soka Gakkai 

From 26 to 28 June 2026, in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of President Ikeda’s commemorative message to the SGM Great Wall Group, the National Persons-in-charge (PICs) Training Course was held at the SGM Penang Culture Centre and Soka Peace Centre Malaysia, bringing together 357 participants from across the country.Together, they reaffirmed their determination to protect the Soka Gakkai and advance kosen-rufu.

Held under the theme, “To express gratitude to our mentor, inherit the spirit of protection, and promote continuous learning and growth,” the training course featured lectures, participants’ experiences, panel discussions and small-group dialogues, enabling attendees to deepen their faith and strengthen their commitment to embodying the oneness of mentor and disciple.

During the course, SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai explained the true mission of the Soka Gakkai, emphasising that it is the organisation that fulfils Nichiren Daishonin’s prophecies while advancing peace, culture and education. He encouraged participants to dedicate their lives to protecting the Soka Gakkai and to contribute towards kosen-rufu and the happiness of humanity.

SGM vice-general director Dr Christopher Boey revisited President Ikeda’s commemorative message presented to the SGM Great Wall Group in 2016. He encouraged participants to embody the spirit of “unseen virtue and visible reward” by quietly supporting fellow members and protecting the culture centres as steadfast pillars of the organisation. Quoting from the Gosho, he further encouraged everyone to remain confident that all hardships will eventually pass, leading to victory and Buddhahood.

The panel discussions, which focus on the spirit of protection and the Soka Gakkai spirit, together with the small-group dialogues, further deepened participants’ understanding of the organisation. They reaffirmed that the Soka Gakkai is a stronghold dedicated to protecting members’ happiness and advancing peace, culture and education, while serving as the vehicle through which the spirit of mentor and disciple is passed down across the three founding presidents. Inspired by President Ikeda’s guidance to rise and roar like a lion, participants renewed their pledge to courageously protect the Mystic Law and safeguard the Soka Gakkai.

At the close of the training course, participants resolved to put what they had learnt into practice by actively advancing shakubuku, fostering capable successors and uniting even greater efforts to protect the organisation as they move towards a new chapter of kosen-rufu leading up to 2030.
