Student Narrators Raise Environmental Awareness through SoHA Exhibition

In July 2026, SGM Sabah partnered with two primary schools in Lahad Datu and Sandakan to organise the “Seeds of Hope and Action (SoHA)” exhibition. Through guided tours and interactive learning activities, the exhibition helped students understand the relationship between people and nature, develop a greater appreciation for the environment and natural resources, and recognise that positive change begins with individual action.

On 14 July, SK Sepagaya in Lahad Datu hosted the SoHA exhibition, with 25 students serving as exhibition narrators. They introduced the exhibition panels to their fellow students and conducted creative experiments to deepen visitors’ understanding of the exhibition themes. More than 320 students, together with 15 student representatives from a neighbouring school, attended the exhibition. School principal Abdul Hassim Halddin commended the exhibition for its educational value and expressed his hope of continuing similar collaborations with SGM in the future.

On 16 July, SJKC Tai Tong in Sandakan hosted the SoHA exhibition, where eight teachers and 31 student narrators presented the exhibition in Chinese, Bahasa Melayu and English to more than 500 pupils from Years 1 to 6. Through guided tours and interactive learning, students gained a deeper understanding of environmental protection, the importance of reducing food waste and the value of teamwork. Many also shared their intention to pass on what they had learnt to their families and friends, spreading the exhibition’s message further.

The two sessions not only helped the ideals of the exhibition take deeper root within the school communities, but also inspired students to begin with small actions in their daily lives, care for the environment and work together towards a better future.
