“Jom Into Our Peaceful World” 2026 Children’s Peace Art Exhibition Opens

In conjunction with SGM Junior Division Day on 3 July, SGM Selangor organised the “Jom Into Our Peaceful World” children’s peace art exhibition from 4 to 12 July 2026 at its culture centre. The opening ceremony was held on 5 July at the centre’s Ikeda Peace Auditorium. Guided by the ideals of peace, culture and education, the exhibition encourages children to express their understanding of peace, harmony and unity through art, while bringing together families, schools and the wider community to promote a culture of peace.

The exhibition received support from government agencies, educational institutions and community partners, including the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) Teluk Pulai branch, Gibran Method, Doremi Art Space, Galaxy Day Care Centre, Meet Sunny Art Studio, Play and Paint Art Studio, and Tadika Sri Hasrat. A total of 231 artworks created by children and young people aged 5 to 15 were exhibited, including 35 pieces by neurodivergent children. The exhibition featured paintings, collages, paper art, clay works, recycled art and mixed-media creations, showcasing the children’s creativity and their aspirations for a more peaceful world.

The exhibition was organised around four themes: “The Beauty of Nature in Peace,” “The Future of Peace,” “Connections for Peace” and “Be Part of Peace.” Through these themes, children were encouraged to reflect on the meaning of peace in relation to nature, relationships and everyday life, while recognising that each individual can contribute to building a more peaceful society.

The opening ceremony was officiated by Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) Corporate Communications Department director Norfiza Mahfiz. In her address, she noted that Klang has long embodied the spirit of harmony among its diverse cultures, races and religions. She also commended SGM for its longstanding commitment to promoting the ideals of peace, culture and education, as well as its continuous efforts in advancing education, cultural development and community engagement for the benefit of society. She added that MBDK looks forward to supporting more community initiatives organised by SGM in the future.

The ceremony opened with a performance of “Mirai E” by the SGM Renaissance Choir, followed by an energetic children’s zumba dance presented by the junior division. SGM representatives, invited guests and junior division members then jointly officiated the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Certificates of appreciation were also presented to representatives of government agencies, educational institutions and community partners in recognition of their continued support for the promotion of peace, culture and education.

Throughout the exhibition period, visitors enjoyed a variety of interactive activities. Among the most popular was the “Draw Your Mood” message wall, where children expressed their emotions, dreams and wishes through drawings and handwritten messages. Together with their parents, they contributed to a collective artwork that reflected hope for a peaceful future. Through such artistic exchanges, participants put into practice the values of respect, inclusion and mutual understanding.
