SoHA Exhibition at Han Chiang University College Fosters Sustainability Awareness

On 1 and 2 July 2026, the SGM Penang student division and Han Chiang University College of Communication (HCUC) jointly organised the “Seeds of Hope and Action” (SoHA) exhibition at HCUC’s multipurpose hall in George Town, Penang. The two-day event attracted 528 lecturers, students and members of the public.

The exhibition aimed to raise awareness of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) among students from SJKC Han Chiang, Han Chiang High School and HCUC. Through guided tours conducted by 14 SGM Penang student division members and eight HCUC students, visitors gained a deeper understanding of global challenges, sustainable development and the message of “It Starts with One.”

Many visitors described the exhibition as meaningful and educational, noting that it not only introduced the SDGs but also highlighted practical ways individuals can contribute towards achieving them.

The student narrators also benefited from the experience by deepening their understanding of environmental and social issues through research and preparation. Many expressed hope that the exhibition could reach a wider audience and inspire more people to take action.

HCUC deputy vice-chancellor Jenny Khoo Gim Hoon highly commended the exhibition and expressed its interest in future collaborations with SGM Penang on programmes related to social awareness and global issues.
