The SGM high school division (HSD) course counselling session was held online on 29 March, bringing together some 180 students and their guardians. The session aimed to guide students considering their next steps after secondary school.
SGM education committee member Tan How Kian delivered a talk on the purpose of higher education, encouraging students to value both academic achievement and the broader mission of creating value in their own lives and contributing to the well-being of others.


Student division member Chew Yan Herng shared his experience of challenging academic and financial circumstances while studying overseas.
In conclusion, SGM education committee leader Dr Wendy Yee stressed that education is not only about knowledge and skills, but also about cultivating critical thinking and sound judgement. She encouraged students to reflect on the issues they truly care about, using these as a basis for meaningful action.
This was followed by breakout discussions, where participants engaged in dialogue with professionals from various fields.
