With the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) set to take place in November, its presidency launched the Global Ethical Stocktake (GES) – an initiative inviting people from around the world to share their perspectives on the moral and civilisational challenges posed by the climate crisis.
SGI was invited to take part in this initiative and subsequently extended the invitation to SGM.
On 9 October, 21 SGM youth members participated in an online discussion to exchange views on the climate crisis. The participants reaffirmed that meaningful climate action requires restoring balance among economic, social and environmental priorities, guided by the conviction that committed action can bring about real change. They also highlighted that genuine change must begin from within – through the process of human revolution, as taught by President Ikeda.

The COP is the decision-making body of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), a multilateral treaty to coordinate global efforts to combat climate change.
