Soka Community Day Raises Health and Legal Awareness

In April 2026, SGM organised Soka Community Day, featuring diverse programmes such as health talks, legal sharing sessions, and experience sharing to promote community learning and interaction. The events attracted active participation from both members and new friends.

SGM Kedah held a Soka Community Day on 11 April at the Sungai Petani Centre, featuring a health talk by Dr Lim Khian Giap who analysed the differences and functions of traditional Chinese medicine, Western medicine, and nutritional supplements. He also reminded the audience to maintain good health through proper diet, exercise and lifestyle habits.

Later on 17 April, another session took place at the SGM Kedah Culture Centre, where Dr Chuah Teng Hong and Dr Seet Jia Sheng spoke on managing the three highs” – high blood pressure, high blood sugar and high cholesterol. They advised adopting healthier lifestyle habits such as a balanced diet and regular exercise to improve overall wellbeing. In addition, there was also sharing from members on how to overcome health and work challenges through Nichiren Buddhism.

Meanwhile, on 12 April and 19 April, SGM Sabah held a Soka Community Day at Lahad Datu Recreational Park and its culture centre respectively. The event at Lahad Datu, which combined community bonding activities with environmental conservation efforts, attracted around  40 participants, creating a lively and joyful atmosphere throughout the day.

On the other hand, the health talk held at its culture centre, featured podologist Christina Hwong Ching Huay as the invited speaker. Her talk, titled “Your Feet, Your Life: The Hidden Key to Wellbeing,” attracted approximately 40 participants. Through clear and accessible explanations, participants gained a more concrete understanding of practical health care methods that can be applied in daily life. 

On 19 April, SGM Melaka held a legal seminar in conjunction with its Soka Community Day. SGM Justice Group members Lim Liyi, Low Ley Yeow and Wang Zhen Yuan, all practising lawyers — spoke about wills and estate administration. They explained key concepts such as the legal requirements for making a will, witness criteria and principles of estate distribution. A book sharing session was also held that day.
