SMJK Hwa Lian, Mentakab (12 Jan 2022)

The heavy rain in December 2021 caused flooding in many parts of Pahang, of which some were of unprecedented scale. In several areas, the situations were much worse with flood water depths exceeding 10 feet. Numerous homes, farms and shops were severely damaged.

In addition, many schools in the state were also badly hit by the floods. Valuable teaching and audio equipment, desks, chairs and other furniture, books and musical instruments in libraries, classrooms and resource centres were destroyed by the floods, causing huge damage to the schools and seriously affecting their operations.

With the hopes of alleviating the people’s suffering, the SGM Pahang Branch donated RM2,000 to each of the four primary schools and one secondary school in Kuantan, Mentakab and Bentong in mid-January to help rebuild the schools in the hope of an early return to normalcy.
