The SGM art collection exhibition titled “Timeless Art Legacy – Exhibition of Artworks Donated by Sim Tiak Choo” was held from 29 November to 28 December 2025 at Wisma Kebudayaan SGM, drawing over 1,000 visitors. The opening ceremony on 6 December was presided over by Dato’ Sri Khairudin Samad, president of the Council of Malaysian Senators, and Dato’ Wong Kam Wah, senior adviser to the president of the Council of Malaysian Senators, and attended by over 100 guests, including respected figures from the art community and cultural practitioners.
In his welcome address, SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai conveyed heartfelt appreciation to Datuk Sim, who has generously donated 175 artworks to SGM. The donated collection features works by eminent artists such as Zhang Daqian, Liu Haisu, Wu Guanzhong, Li Chi-Mao, Chen Jen Hao and Liu Kang, among others.
Sharing his personal story, Datuk Sim recounted his journey of sustaining his gallery while working as a street vendor. He also explained that he chose to donate his collection to SGM because of its long-standing commitment to art education and cultural exchange.

Dato’ Wong paid tribute to Datuk Sim’s dedication to the arts, describing him as an outstanding torchbearer of cultural legacy.
The exhibition adopted “Opening an Art Storage” as its curatorial concept, giving visitors an inside look at SGM’s professional collection system and key processes. The exhibition will return from 14 March to 12 April 2026 at the same venue.
