From November 29 to December 1, 2019, some 1,000 SGM representatives from all over Malaysia gathered at the SGM Selangor Culture Centre to attend the Third SGM Headquarters Leaders Conference and celebrate Soka Gakkai Founding Day, which fell on November 18.
In his congratulatory message, SGI President Ikeda said, “Kosen-rufu is the great march where each and every one is the lead actor and everyone is victorious.” He encourages the participants to get along with their comrades and together expand the solidarity of peace and happiness.
The youth division made a fresh start with the appointment of Andrew Looi as youth division leader and Tan Jun Kong as young men’s division leader.
SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai made a report on SGM’s 2019 main activities and victorious moments and urged the participants to never forget the elements to achieve total victory. Currently, SGM has 1,746 blocks. He then made announcements for 2020 including the theme “Year of Advancement and Capable People”; making study and fostering people as main focuses; achieving 2,000 Gohonzon enshrinements and 5,000 new members. He also announced another grand endeavour – the establishment of the Soka International School (SIS; tentative name) in Malaysia. In support for the government’s effort in ratifying the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW), youth representatives will share President Ikeda’s Peace Proposal to stress on the importance of this treaty.
The participants also studied the importance of refuting the erroneous and revealing the true, speaking up for justice, significance of discussion meetings and other topics, in preparation for achieving 2020 goals.
SGM women’s division leader May Chan urged them to advance towards the 90th anniversary of Soka Gakkai’s establishment with a determination that all members are capable people.
