The Soka Gakkai Malaysia (SGM) Student Division is organising the 2021 Nationwide Youth Peace Assembly on September 26 (Sunday) at 10am, based on the annual peace proposal by Soka Gakkai International President Daisaku Ikeda titled, “Value Creation in a Time of Crisis.”
In his 2021 peace proposal, President Ikeda mentioned that although the world is still shrouded in the dark clouds of the COVID-19 pandemic, he believes that the power of joint action and global solidarity transcending national borders will pave the way for humanity to exit from the current intertwined crises of climate change, COVID-19 and related economic impacts.
He further proposes the holding of a “Beyond COVID-19” youth summit to discuss the kind of world young people want to see in the aftermath of this crisis. In response, the SGM Student Division will organise the 2021 Nationwide Youth Peace Assembly (NYPA), gathering youths from different states across Malaysia to discuss the various societal and global issues, as well as to brainstorm on the actions and solutions that youths can take to overcome the current challenges facing humanity.
With the event theme of ‘We Arise, Be the Light of Hope!’, we hope to convey the important message that despite living in this dire times of crisis, as long as we continue to create values in our lives and contribute to the betterment of society, we can definitely ignite the light of hope for oneself and others.
