(Kuala Lumpur, April 2) The current outbreak of Covid-19 has created an unprecedented challenge to the global community, including our nation, Malaysia. With an escalating number of confirmed cases, our healthcare system is under great pressure, especially in terms of shortages of medical supplies.
Upholding the spirit of sharing the sufferings of others from the stance of our common humanity, Persatuan Soka Gakkai Malaysia (SGM) has donated a sum of RM40,000 to the Wakaf Covid-19 fund, set up by Mercy Malaysia, that aims to amass funds to buy respiratory aid machines and monitors for ICUs at government hospitals.
The donation was made on April 2, 2020. We applaud and appreciate the humanitarian efforts by Mercy Malaysia and sincerely hope that the contribution made will help to ease the acute shortage of medical equipment.
SGM members will continue to pray for the Covid-19 outbreak to subside as soon aspossible, the recovery of all patients and recovery of the global, as well as Malaysia’s economy and peace.
