In 2014, the Soka Bloom of Excellence Group (SBEG), consisting of Tadika Seri Soka (TSS) alumni, was formed by TSS founder Daisaku Ikeda. The name of the group shows Mr Ikeda’s expectations towards the group members to become outstanding people who contribute to society.
On June 23, forty SBEG members who graduated from TSS between 2000 and 20006 gathered at TSS. During this gathering, Koay Sher Li, also an alumnus of Soka University, Japan shared her experience of studying abroad and practising Soka education which emphasises the importance of treasuring each person.
In his speech, the chairman of TSS’ Board of Director, Prof Dato’ Dr. Christopher Boey urged attendees to keep four main points in in mind” (1) never forget the prime of faith; (2) become strong, righteous and lively people who uphold the value of hope, caourage and friendship and create value in society; (3) never yield of give in to challenges, and (4) Appreciate and repay our debts of gratitude to our parents.
Dr Boey encouraged those who had lost their family members by saying “Your family members are always in your heart,” and asked them to have dialogues with them in their heart, just as Mr Ikeda had always reported his victories to his mentor Mr Josei Toda. He then distributed souvenirs to the participants, and stated that Mr Ikeda will always pray for their happiness.
The participants were then divided into five age groups and shared their memories of studying in TSS, after which they toured the kindergarten grounds and decorated the grounds.
