On 9 and 15 August, the theatre production “Meniti Cakerawala 2.0 – The Science and Romance of the Cosmos,” organised by The Sutra Foundation with the support of SGM, was staged at the SGM Selangor and Penang Culture Centres, respectively.

Directed by Malaysia’s renowned dance maestro Datuk Ramli Ibrahim, the production featured Prof Emeritus Tan Sri Dr Mazlan Othman, Malaysia’s first astrophysicist and former director of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, as the storyteller. She shared her scientific journey and life reflections, while dancers interwove Indian classical and contemporary dance to capture the wonder of the cosmos with artistic brilliance. 

At the Selangor session, SGM president Johnny Ng noted that the production not only showcased the beauty of life but also inspired reflection on humanity’s profound connection with the universe, resonating deeply with the Soka philosophy.

The Penang performance was graced by Penang governor Tan Sri Dato’ Seri DiRaja Ramli Ngah Talib and his wife Toh Puan Raja Dato’ Seri Utama Noora Ashikin Raja Abdullah.

Premiered in 2024, Meniti Cakerawala returned this year in its 2.0 version for a nationwide tour across eight venues, including Soka International School Malaysia.
