SGM Relief Refugees of Yunan’s Massive Earthquake

Kuala Lumpur, Massive earthquake strikes Ludian County of Yunan Province, China on 3 August this year. With a moment magnitude of 6.5, it was labelled as the most severe earthquake that has ever hit Ludian County throughout the past 14 years. This tragedy has led to 600 deaths and more than a million homeless.

Mr. Koh Sia Feai, General Director of SGM handed over RM20,000 of donation to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia as a contribution to the reconstruction of the earthquake-stricken areas. The donation was received by Gong Chunsen, Counsellor for Concular Affairs, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the name of His Excellency Huang Huikang, the Ambassador who could not attend the ceremony. The handover of the donation was witnessed by Liu Pangxiang, First Secretary of the Embassy of Republic China, Chan Yin Kwan and Chia Kok Peng, representatives of SGM PR Department. Counsellor Gong Chunssn thanked SGM’s members sincerely for the donation and as well as for the kind concern and sympathy. On top of that, he also promised to utilize the donation to help those affected. In return, he presented a certificate of appreciation to SGM as a sign of gratitude.
