SGM Participates in State National Day Celebrations

Penang and Pahang

Seventy-six SGM Penang members participated in the parade held at Esplanade, Georgetown alongside 86 other groups and organizations. 

In Pahang, SGM Pahang members fielded two performances at two different places. In Kuantan, 40 members of SGM Pahang joined the parade with 89 other groups at Padang MPK1, Pahang, while 30 SGM Pahang members joined the parade held at Dumai Square in Bentong.

Melaka and Perak

Thirty-three SGM Melaka members joined the parade with 230 teams from governmental departments, security forces and schools. The parade was from the Independence Memorial to Hang Tuah Stadium. Meanwhile, 56 SGM Perak members participated in the National Day parade held at the front of Ipoh City Hall Building.

Johor

SGM Johor participated in two events related to the state-level National Day celebrations. On the eve, August 30, six SGM Johor dancers performed at Tangkak Square in front of 5,000 people. When the clock struck midnight, they joined in a 1Malaysia dance performers with numerous other performers of various ethnicities.

At the state capital Johor Bahru, 25 members of SGM Johor’s Successor Dance Group, together with 40 performers from Yayasan Warisan Johor (YWJ), presented a 20-minute stage show at the Pasir Gudang Indoor Stadium. The show presented the success and achievement that Johor has achieved in the 60 years since independence in a lively and energetic manner, enlivening the atmosphere. On the day before, the Successor team also performed “kungfu yoga” and two other dances with YWJ.
