In his congratulatory message, SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai expressed deep gratitude to members for safeguarding the centre over the past two decades. He highlighted its significance not only as a place of Buddhist practice, but also as a hub for exhibitions, lectures and community initiatives such as blood donation drives.
The celebration was further enlivened by a melodious choir, an expressive white-glove hand dance and a spirited band performance that captivated the audience. A forum session titled “The Next 20 Years: Passing on the Legacy” reminded participants of their shared mission to carry forward the Soka Gakkai’s spirit and traditions for future generations.
SGM area leader Lim Tee Yen later delivered concluding remarks, encouraging members to honour President Ikeda and seniors-in-faith by striving for new victories in kosen-rufu.
Participants shared their reflections after the event, expressing how they were inspired by the unwavering spirit of their seniors-in-faith, whose dedication enabled kosen-rufu to flourish in the area and led to the establishment of the centre. Some added that the centre has been a place to deepen their understanding of Buddhism, giving them the courage to face life’s challenges and pursue happiness.
Their sentiments echoed President Ikeda’s congratulatory message at the centre’s opening in August 2005, when he described it as a “plaza of the people’s happiness.”
