From November 30, 2017 to January 11, 2018, SGM leaders held all-leaders meetings in their respective states. The meetings were mainly to conclude the kosen-rufu activities in 2017, especially the commendable success in shakubuku (expansion) activities. At the same time, they served as a launching pad towards the Year of Brilliant Achievement in the New Era of Worldwide Kosen-rufu in 2018.
On December 3, 2017, SGM Kuala Lumpur held its leaders general meeting. The SGM Kuala Lumpur Hope Fife-and-drum Corps kicked off the meeting with lively performances, that delighted the audience. Besides concluding the shakubuku result of SGM Kuala Lumpur, the leaders also watched a video regarding President Ikeda efforts in writing The Human Revolution.
The second part of the meeting was broadcasted to SGM state centres nationwide. During this part, SGM Young Men Division (YMD) Vice-Leader William Chow and chapter YMD leader Yim Kien Fai shared their experiences of sharing Buddhism with others through culture activities organised by SGM. Through sincerity and perseverance, William has successfully introduced several young men to Nichiren Buddhism, including Kien Fai himself. Kien Fai also shared his experience of practising Buddhism.
SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai conducted a study session on ensuring continuity in shakubuku. He spoke of the shakubuku spirit of the three founding presidents and President Ikeda’s determination to respond to his mentor that enabled the Osaka Campaign to be a great success.
He also spoke on the importance of prayer and action, and called upon leaders to use this golden opportunity to strive alongside President Ikeda and lead all members towards great victory in shakubuku in the Year of Brilliant Achievement.
SGM Perak also held its all leaders meeting on the same day, announcing the achievement of the state shakubuku. Region Leader Woo Chee Seng encouraged Perak leaders to chant daimoku from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM each morning, carry out regular home-visits and happiness sharing meetings, and achieve victory in shakubuku.
On December 10, SGM Pahang held its leaders meeting, with 180 leaders from all over the state attending. After reviewing the past activities and setting goals for the following year, 180 leaders were divided into groups for a shakubuku workshop.
Also on December 10, some 800 SGM Selangor leaders participated in a November 18 commemorative leaders meeting. It was announced that 53 groups had successfully introduced ten or more people to our organisation, with 16 among them achieving “Role Model Group” status.
Heading into the Year of Brilliant Achievement, all of SGM is gearing towards accomplishing 20,000 professors of happiness by November 18, 2018 and expanding the network of happiness throughout the nation.
