SGM Donates to China Earthquake Relief

A massive earthquake of magnitude 6.5 struck Ludian County in Yunan Province, China on August 3 this year. It was labelled as the most severe earthquake to ever hit Ludian County in the past 14 years, leading to 600 deaths and more than a million left homeless.

On September 3, SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai handed over a donation of RM 20,000 to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Malaysia, contributing to the reconstruction of the earthquake-stricken areas. The donation was received by Gong Chunsen, Counsellor for Consular Affairs at the embassy representing Chinese Ambassador HE Dr Huang Huikang. The handover of the donation was witnessed by Liu Pangxiang, First Secretary of the embassy and SGM Public Relations representatives. Mr Gong expressed appreciation to SGM members for the donation as well as their kind concern and sympathy. He also presented a certificate of appreciation to SGM.
