(Kuala Lumpur, August 17) As the Covid-19 cases are still on the rising trend in Malaysia, several regions in the Klang Valley have been experiencing a tightening of restrictions. Many have lost their jobs due to the prolonged lockdown and are struggling to put food on the table.

In line with the humanitarian spirit to ensure the poor and needy have access to basic food during such trying times, Soka Gakkai Malaysia (SGM) donated RM20,000 on 29 July 2021, to Food Aid Foundation to support B40 families as well as other affected households facing severe financial stress.

By working together with the Food Aid Foundation, SGM has distributed basic food items such as rice, cooking oil, vermicelli, flour, canned food and many other kinds of dry food, benefiting 250 households. Many of the recipients are from the poor and low-income community, including single mothers, older Malaysians, people who have lost their source of income and daily wage workers.

This food aid programme focuses on the affected households that were under the Enhanced Movement Control Order within the Klang Valley. Similar financial aids are still ongoing to help relieve the needs of those affected and underprivileged.
