Under an initiative of the Sentosa state constituency, a tree-planting programme named “Pro500 Trees Sentosa” was held on September 5, 2021, and SGM was invited to take part.

This programme aimed to plant 500 trees along Jalan Sungai Jati in Taman Sentosa, Klang, and create awareness on the importance of maintaining a green environment. The organisers hoped that the communities would continue to preserve nature through such initiatives.

This was a joint effort between government agencies, NGOs, corporate bodies and local residents. SGM Selangor was proud to support this initiative and sponsored 50 tecoma trees. At the launch hosted by Sentosa assemblyman YB Dr Gunarajah George, 100 trees were planted.

In his speech, SGM deputy president Johnny Ng commended this initiative as a great example of showing that no matter how challenging our current circumstances are, as long as people are willing to transcend all differences, unite and work towards achieving the same goal, be it fighting the COVID-19 pandemic or climate change, we can create the highest value amid this time of crisis.

On September 26, Selangor state executive councillor YB Hee Loy Sian hosted a closing ceremony. Dr Gunarajah announced that 555 Tecoma trees have been successfully planted. SGM also received an appreciation award.
