SGM Branches Hold Blood Donation Campaigns for Festive Season

As Hari Raya Aidilfitri approached, SGM Kuala Lumpur and SGM Penang held blood donation campaigns to replenish the reserves of the National Blood Bank. The regular blood donation campaigns by SGM branches are part of SGM’s activities to contribute to society.

SGM Kuala Lumpur Region 5 (covering the Cheras, Serdang and Kajang areas of the Klang Valley) held one such campaign on June 21 at the SGM Culture Centre in Cheras, obtaining 153 packets of blood. During this campaign, a children’s story-telling session was also held to entertain children while their parents and relatives donated blood. A sharing session on the “Everything You Treasure” anti-nuclear weapons exhibition was also held in order to reinforce the message of abolishing nuclear weapons.

On the same day, SGM Kuala Lumpur Region 1 also held a blood donation campaign at the SGM Selayang Centre, obtaining 67 packets.

Up north, SGM Penang held a blood donation at its Bukit Tambun Culture Centre in cooperation with the Seberang Jaya hospital on June 28, and obtained 48 packets of blood. Dr Anil Krishna Dass, a specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology and urogynaecology at KPJ Penang Specialist Hospital, also gave a talk on uterine diseases. The talk was attended by some 110 people.
