On 19 and 20 April, members of the SGM Beacon Group – comprising healthcare professionals and students – gathered for their annual seminar at the SGM Culture Centre.
Following opening remarks by SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai, Vice-General Director Johnny Ng delivered a lecture titled “Refuting Evil and Imparting the True: Direct Path to Buddhahood.”
Participants then reflect on their prime points with President Ikeda in small groups. The day continued with a forum on the impact of AI and smartphone usage.

On 20 April, Beacon group advisor Prof Dr Christopher Boey delivered a lecture titled “Everything Begins with Prayer Infused with the Shared Vow of Mentor and Disciple,” emphasising that prayer in Nichiren Buddhism is a vow to win. He elaborated that such determined prayers can create a ripple effect that inspires and uplifts others.
The seminar concluded with a speech by Beacon Group leader Dr Siow Yoon Kee, who shared about the indomitable Kansai spirit.
