In conjunction with the International Day of Peace, whch falls on September 21, Penang Harmony Corporation (Harmonico), an agency under the Penang government, organised the “PEACE 21: Cycle the World, Cycle for Peace” event. An online launching ceremony was held on September 21, 2021, which saw the presence of SGM Penang, state government representatives and other NGOs.

In his speech, Penang Governor Tun Ahmad Fuzi Abdul Razak expressed his aspiration that Penang will become a role model of peace, while chairperson of the Women, Family Development, Gender Inclusiveness and Non-Muslim Affairs committee YB Chong Eng hoped that the event will convey the message that caring for the environment and peace starts with the family.

The event ran for 21 days from launching, in which participants cycled on their own, at their chosen locations to contribute towards a collective goal of covering 40,075 km, equivalent to the equatorial circumference of the Earth.
