On August 6, 2020, in conjunction with the launching ceremony of “Exhibition on Book, Writing and Publishing: The Collection of Roosfa Hashim” held at International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), or Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM), SGM was invited to present the “Everything You Treasure – For a World Free from Nuclear Weapons” exhibition.

The ceremony was held at the university’s Dar Al-Hikmah Library and was officiated by Emeritus Prof Tan Sri Dato’ Dr Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, Rector of IIUM.

A series of activities were also held in conjunction with the launching ceremony. Prof Dr Kamarulnizam Abdullah from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) created a video entitled World Peace Awareness; a book talk featuring two books, Sains untuk Manusia and The Ashes of Hiroshima, moderated by Mohd Khair Ngadiron, director of Malaysian National Book Council (MBKM) and panelled by Dr Mohamad Saleeh Rahamad from University of Malaya (UM). In addition, Mohd Faizal Aziz from MajalahSains was also present.

HE Hiroshi Oka, Ambassador of Japan to Malaysia also gave a speech titled “Hiroshima and Nagasaki: 75 Years Later.” He said that Japan, as the only nation to suffer attacks by nuclear weapons, was doing its best to prevent the tragedy of Hiroshima and Nagasaki from happening elsewhere. He expressed Japan’s willingness to share its experiences and expertise in various fields, noting that Japan has produced the second-largest number of Nobel Prize laureates.

Sains untuk Manusia is a book carrying articles written by Tan Sri Dzulkifli about the possible effects and influence of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (or Industry 4.0) on scientific research and science education in Malaysia. The articles featured in this book were previously published in MajalahSains. Meanwhile, The Ashes of Hiroshima, an English translation of Othman Puteh’s Debu Hirohima, tells the experience of a young man who experienced the tragic atomic bombing in Hiroshima in 1945. Both books can be purchased from IIUM’s online bookshop.
