On 17 June, the Institute of Oriental Philosophy (IOP), an affiliate of the Soka Gakkai, was presented with the “Best Partnership Award” by the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilisation of the International Islamic University Malaysia (ISTAC-IIUM). The award recognises IOP’s enduring commitment to intellectual collaboration and intercultural dialogue, which has greatly enriched ISTAC-IIUM’s academic and research initiatives.
IOP director Ryohei Tanaka received the award on behalf of the institute during ISTAC-IIUM’s annual Takrim Day – a celebration that acknowledges the contributions of staff, alumni, research scholars and partners.
Among the notable collaborations between ISTAC-IIUM, IOP, and SGM was “The Lotus Sutra: A Message of Peace and Harmonious Coexistence” exhibition held last year.
SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai and other SGM representatives were also present to witness this meaningful achievement.
