From 14–16 March, 143 chapter level and above youth leaders participated in the first Youth Chapter Leaders Training Course, deepening their faith and sense of mission through three days of intensive learning and heartfelt dialogue.

The course opened at the SGM Kuala Lumpur Culture Centre, where SGM youth division leader Andrew Looi outlined four key objectives: to understand the significance of kosen-rufu and shakubuku, consolidate the foundation of Buddhist study, deepen the mentor-disciple spirit, and strengthen organisational capabilities.

During the activity report session, Ang Hui Lian from Kuala Lumpur and Tioe Yee Huan from Penang shared how they advanced kosen-rufu in their local areas through efforts such as home visits and small group dialogues. Following that, Eio Quan Ni from Penang and Then Kok Hwa from Perak spoke about overcoming personal challenges through Buddhist practice.

The course also featured inspiring sharing from three senior leaders – SGM women’s division vice-leader Leong Wai Lin, vice-general director Pang Chok Wai and men’s division secretary Looi Chee Choong – who recounted the early pioneering days of kosen-rufu and the unwavering dedication of youth in building Soka education and SGM centres.Later at Wisma Kebudayaan SGM, participants visited the Mentor and Disciple Peace Hall and attended a study lecture by SGM study department leader Chia Kok Peng.

On the second day at the SGM Culture Centre, the youth engaged in in-depth dialogues with senior leaders and took part in a workshop on organisational operations led by SGM women’s division secretary Chan Yin Kwan, equipping them with practical skills in leadership and management.

In the evening, they joined the 16 March Kosen-rufu Day Youth General Meeting, strengthening their determination to strive as President Ikeda’s disciples.

On the final day, also at the SGM Culture Centre, participants sang “We Carry On – One with Sensei” and held group discussions, reflecting on their own journey in faith.

In his address, SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai reminded participants that each of them is a Bodhisattva of the Earth, entrusted with the noble mission of relieving suffering and spreading hope in the Latter Day of the Law.

Leaving the training course with renewed conviction, each youth leader is now more determined than ever to carry forward the great mission of kosen-rufu.
