SGM has long been committed to organising initiatives that advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In the lead-up to the upcoming Run for Peace, which highlights the SDGs as a key theme, these efforts intensified.
Environmental Cleanup Programmes
On 13 July, SGM Sabah mobilised some 80 participants for a beach cleanup along Pantai Sabindo in Tawau.
A week later, on 20 July, some 100 volunteers gathered at Pantai Jeram, Kuala Selangor for a beach cleanup coorganised by SGM and MY Clean Beach, an environmental organisation. Volunteers removed an estimated 500kg of trash.
On 27 July, the action moved inland as 24 youth and 23 residents of Taman Pinggiran Indah in Batu Caves joined forces for a gotong-royong, collecting 81.6kg of recyclables and clearing a small truckload of general waste.

Blood Donation Drives
On 13 July, the Neighbourhood Watch Committee of SS22B Damansara Jaya and SGM Kuala Lumpur jointly organised a blood donation drive at Atria Shopping Gallery, Petaling Jaya, collecting 102 packs of blood. The Seeds of Hope and Action (SoHA) exhibition was also held on-site to inspire visitors about sustainability.

On 20 July, SGM Perak coorganised a blood donation drive with Sungai Siput Hospital at the SGM Sungai Siput Centre, collecting 32 bags of blood.
The community outreach efforts continued on 27 July with a drive at the SGM Kluang Centre, which collected 59 bags of blood.
SDGs Talks
From 7–15 July, SGM organised talks on the key concepts of the SDGs at six schools, reaching over 2,200 participants. The participating schools were SMK Perimbun in Cheras, Selangor; SJKC Ping Ming in Johor Bahru; and SJKC South Malaya, SJKC Lit Terk, SJKC Kg Gajah and SJKC Machap in Johor’s Kluang District.

On 13 July, SGM hosted an online talk titled “Unpacking Ocean Trash: Real Actions for a Cleaner Blue” featuring My Clean Beach founder Geeva Samynathan. She stressed the importance of consistent, mindful habits in consumption and waste management.
Also on 13 July, counselling psychologist Ong Gui Mei delivered a talk on emotional management at the SGM Segamat Centre, offering participants practical guidance on taking care of their mental health.
SoHA Exhibition
From 2–4 July, SGM Penang collaborated with Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) to bring the Seeds of Hope and Action (SoHA) exhibition to the university’s Tanjung Bungah campus. The event attracted 283 visitors, including lecturers, students and members of the public, raising awareness on the SDGs and the role youth can play in creating positive change.
From 5–13 July, the exhibition was held at AEON Mall Bukit Tinggi, Klang, drawing 630 mallgoers.
On 15 July, the exhibition travelled to SMK Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, where 13 student narrators conveyed the key messages to 520 students.
On 27 July, the exhibition was also held at the SGM Puchong Centre in conjunction with an SDGs Day, welcoming 83 visitors.

Reduce Waste Initiatives
On 4 July, SGM Sarawak conducted an ecobricks workshop at Batu Kawa Min Lit Secondary School in Kuching, where nearly 60 teachers and students learnt about ecobricks and created them using non-recyclable plastic waste from daily life.
On 1 June, 6 July and 3 August, SGM Selangor organised a Pre-Loved Day where visitors were encouraged to donate books and clothing, or take home items donated by others. The event aimed to foster a culture of sharing and reduce waste.
