277 Children Joyfully Welcome First Day of School at Tadika Seri Soka

On 12 January 2026, the Tadika Seri Soka (TSS) campus was livelier than usual; it was the start of the new school year, welcoming 277 children from aged four to six, including 81 new students.

The new children entered their classrooms under the watchful eyes of their parents – some anxious and crying for their mothers, while others were eager to make new friends and filled with curiosity about everything they see and hear. Meanwhile, the returning children chatted and played happily with their friends, displaying the maturity of older brothers and sisters.

In her welcoming speech at the opening ceremony, principal Ho Lee Choo thanked the parents for their trust in sending their children to TSS. She also encouraged parents to cultivate a spirit of independence in their children at home to help them adapt to kindergarten life. Quoting TSS founder Daisaku Ikeda, Mdm Ho expressed her hopes for the children to spend a joyful and fulfilling year at the kindergarten. TSS board chairman Prof Dato’ Dr Christopher Boey also attended the ceremony and offered words of encouragement to the children: stay happy, cherish your friends, and always say “thank you.”

The ceremony also highlighted the three promises founder Mr Ikeda asks students to practice: greet others in high spirits, be good to friends, and learn together with joy and cheer. Despite the initial anxiety and tears, the children were laughing and playing with their classmates within just an hour, beginning to build unforgettable childhood memories.
