Soka University Students Visit TSS
Spreading the Ideals and Spirit of Soka Education
On 26 and 27 February 2026, 16 students from Soka University of Japan (SUJ), who are part of a campus club studying Soka kindergartens around the world, visited Tadika Seri Soka (TSS). This is the 25th time such a delegation – whose core activity is spreading the ideals of Soka Schools founder Daisaku Ikeda in preschool education into the next 100 years and more – has visited TSS.
TSS held a special assembly, in which principal Ho Lee Choo welcomed the delegates warmly and the children interacted with them through song and dance.
Later, the SUJ students were divided into three groups and went into each classroom to present a picture story titled “Strong Heart” while playing with the children.
Masayuki Kumakura, the chairperson of the 31st Soka kindergarten overseas visit, recounted that at first the children were timid; however, after interacting with them, the children opened up their hearts and even gave them warm hugs. He was interested in knowing how Soka schools around the world spread peace ideals of the founder, emphasising how important these ideals are in this turbulent era.
Eimi Nakatamari, who joined the visitation held online two years ago, was excited and happy to meet the children in person. She wished to tell the children that their big brothers and sisters in SUJ will always look after and cheer for them, waiting for them to grow into capable global citizens.
Meanwhile, TSS teacher Anna Kang said that these visitations were meaningful for the children as they seldom had a chance to meet friends from overseas, let alone interact with them. She was happy that the children were able to keep their promises with the founder to make many friends.
