SISM and Kansai Soka High School Hold Online Exchange – Overcoming Language Barriers and Forging International Friendships

On 19 January 2026, Soka International School Malaysia (SISM) and Kansai Soka High School in Japan held an online exchange, where students engaged in lively discussions on topics such as their dreams, building friendships that transcend national boundaries through interaction.

The exchange aimed to enhance students’ language skills and strengthen the friendly ties between the two schools. Participants took part in small-group discussions; when sharing their dreams, some expressed a desire “to pursue work that brings happiness to others,” while others aspired “to become a United Nations staff member and contribute to world peace.”

Through active communication alternating between English and Japanese, students overcame language barriers, experiencing a fulfilling and inspiring session, while further deepening their sense of connection as members of the Soka educational community.
