Sibu Run for Peace Unites Over 800 Runners for Peace, Unity and Sustainability

On 14 September 2025, Run for Peace returned to Sibu, Sarawak, with over 800 peace lovers from diverse backgrounds taking off from Stadium Tun Zaidi. This event by SGM Sarawak celebrated the power of collective action in building peace and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This year’s theme, “Peace Starts with Me! Act NOW for SDGs!”, inspired runners to take meaningful steps toward a better future. Sibu Municipal Council chairperson Clarence Ting, representing Sarawak deputy minister for public health, housing and local government YB Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, flagged off the run at 6:43 a.m.

In his message, Datuk Tiang praised SGM’s efforts in fostering peace through community-driven action, and that each person’s toil and sweat shows their commitment in creating a better world.

The Sibu Run for Peace was more than a run; it was a movement for peace and sustainability. It united people in a shared commitment to building a better future, proving that peace truly starts with each one of us.
