Soka Women Friendship Day Events Mark 35th Anniversary of SGM Women’s Division Day

 

In celebrating the joyous 35th anniversary of SGM Women’s Division Day which falls on 21 October, SGM successfully held 189 Soka Women Friendship Day gatherings across the nation from October to 9 November 2025. These uplifting programmes saw a total of 7,212 participants, including 343 Soka friends.

Highlights Across the Nation

The Friendship Day programmes consistently featured congratulatory remarks from SGM women’s division leader Chan Yin Kwan, a video presentation on division activities, heartfelt experiences in faith, and workshops promoting sustainable lifestyles.

Sabah: Health and Courage

On 19 October at the SGM Sabah Culture Centre, the programme focused on women’s health. Dr Lee Chang Haur, a breast and endocrine specialist, delivered valuable insights on breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and early prevention. Two cancer survivors shared their moving journeys, inspiring attendees with their courage. Three interactive activity stations further helped participants deepen their understanding and practice of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Perak: Wellness and Creativity

Also on 19 October, Perak’s event at its culture centre featured women’s division member Khoo Chee Kheng sharing her experience of overcoming marital challenges. Dietitian Yeoh Chai Yen presented a talk on balanced diet and nutrition, encouraging holistic wellbeing. The event also showcased members’ creativity through eco-friendly craft workshops, including making roses from pandan leaves and crafts from recycled materials. A healthy meal preparation contest brought the lively day to a close.

Central and East Coast Gatherings
  •   On 19 October, Melaka invited Soka women from different backgrounds to share their touching and victorious life journeys. Workshops on cooking healthy soup, making enzymes, and beauty and care proved highly popular.
  •   On 24 October, Kelantan’s event at the SGM Kelantan Culture Centre featured inspiring experiences on the mentor-disciple spirit shared by Eng Ching Inn and Monney Teo. Educational activities covered digital learning, healthy lifestyle practices and parenting advice based on SGI President Ikeda’s guidance.
  •   Also on 24 October, Kedah held its Friendship Day cum commemorative meeting, where three women’s division members shared experiences depicting the power of women and their undefeated spirit. Five hands-on stations focused on the SDGs, showing participants how to incorporate recycling into their daily lifestyle.
Klang Valley: Dialogue and Workshops

On 25 October, another Friendship Day was held at the SS2 Centre in Petaling Jaya, featuring lively dialogues between women’s and young women’s divisions members, along with popular flower arrangement, handmade soap, and lip balm workshops.

Through these nationwide gatherings, participants gained a deeper appreciation of the power of faith and the spirit of friendship, effectively weaving a network of mutual happiness as they advance together towards a bright and hope-filled century of women.
