Nationwide Intermediate Level and Youth Level 2 Study Examinations Sees 1,539 Candidates at 35 Venues

On 14 December 2025, SGM held the Intermediate Level and Youth Level 2 Buddhist study examinations nationwide at 35 venues, attracting a total of 1,539 candidates. The syllabus covered President Ikeda’s Lectures on “The Opening of the Eyes,” as well as the chapters  “The Lineage and Tradition of Buddhist Humanism” and “Repudiating the Errors of the Nichiren Shoshu Priesthood under Nikken” from The Basics of Buddhism.

In his message, Soka Gakkai president Minoru Harada praised candidates for making the most of their busy schedules, overcoming hardships and earnestly studying Buddhist philosophy, all the while accumulating “treasures of the heart” and shining with a noble seeking spirit.

SGM General Director Mr Koh Sia Feai encouraged candidates at SJKC Chen Moh in Petaling Jaya, affirming that those who challenged the study examination are qualified practitioners of faith. He expressed hopes that candidates would pursue lifelong study of the highest Buddhist philosophy and triumph over life’s trials.

Candidates shared that preparing for the examinations deepened their conviction in Buddhism; others noted that through in-depth study, they renewed their vows to practise shakubuku and the spirit of compassion.

To assist candidates in mastering key points and deepening their understanding, the SGM study department held two online learning sessions prior to the examinations on 27 September and 25 October. Buddhist study coordinators from each state also organised study groups to prepare alongside the candidates, achieving the objective of strengthening Buddhist study.
