SGM Negeri Sembilan Highlights Chinese Culture at Perpatih Fest 2025

SGM Negeri Sembilan (SGM NS) was invited by the Negeri Sembilan State Museum to participate in the Perpatih Fest 2025, held from 10 to 12 October 2025 at the museum. The event attracted over 20,000 enthusiastic visitors.

SGM NS’s exhibition showcased traditional Chinese cuisine and wedding customs, allowing the public to savour delicious dishes and appreciate the unique charm of Chinese food culture. The wedding exhibition area was particularly popular, featuring traditional bridal dowries, wedding rituals and related customs, drawing many visitors to admire the display.

During the opening, SGM NS staged a demonstration of a traditional Chinese wedding ceremony. A couple in traditional attire offered a symbolic toast to Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar YAB Dato’ Seri Utama Aminuddin Harun and his spouse. This gesture highlighted the spirit of inclusiveness and cultural exchange within Malaysia’s multicultural society.

SGM NS later received a certificate of participation during the closing ceremony.

Perpatih Fest, first initiated in 2000 by the Negeri Sembilan Government via the State Museum, aims to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of the state’s matrilineal social system. The festival has been officially recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records as the longest-running matrilineal traditional customs festival in the country.
