Perlis Chapter Celebrates 40th Anniversary of Kosen-rufu, Going All-Out in Shakubuku to Write New Chapter

On 17 October 2025, the Perlis Chapter of AS2 region, North Kedah zone of Kedah state held a commemorative discussion meeting celebrating the 40th anniversary of kosen-rufu in Perlis at the local centre in Kuala Perlis. Sixty-four members and friends gathered to celebrate this joyful and hopeful occasion and milestone.

In conjunction with the October discussion meeting, block women’s division leader Chen Jun Peng shared key points from the Gosho “Three Tripitaka Masters Pray for Rain,” calling on participants to distance themselves from “evil friends” and make “good friends,” continuously strengthen the foundation of our faith and grow to become good friends to our family and friends.

Reflecting upon the 40-year history of kosen-rufu in Perlis, chapter women’s division leader Lim Gek Hoak mentioned that Perlis’ first discussion meeting was held on 10 October 1985 in Kangar; since then, the pioneers and those who followed them have striven tirelessly and expanded the footprints of kosen-rufu throughout Perlis to Padang Besar, Kaki Bukit, Arau, Kuala Perlis, Simpang Empat and other areas. Perlis Chapter has since become an organisation with two districts and six blocks.

Ms Lim subsequently reported: “This year, as of October, thanks to everyone’s efforts, we have added 12 Professors of Happiness. Our movement to expand happiness continues, and we will continue to strive for expansion in shakubuku towards 18 November.”

Chapter leader Lee Eng Hoe thanked all seniors and fellow members for their selfless dedication. He also invited pioneering seniors who travelled from Alor Setar to support kosen-rufu activities in Perlis to share their impressions, making for a warm, moving occasion.

Kedah state leader Teh Chun Aun encouraged all present to advance based on the guideline given to Perlis by SGM General Director Koh Sia Feai: “Unity, Earnest Efforts, Expanding Kosen-rufu.” He also called on them to make a great leap towards the goal of expansion in the spirit of “a hundred people taking a single step together” and make Perlis a land of happiness.
