SGM Penang Kaho Group Book Exchange Promotes Green Reading and Resource Circulation

On 22 November, the SGM Penang Kaho Group held its “Let’s Give Books a New Life” book exchange event at the SGM Penang Culture Centre and Bukit Tambun Culture Centre, drawing enthusiastic participation from members. A warm, vibrant atmosphere of reading and sharing permeated the venues.

The event aimed to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by promoting green reading and lifelong learning through the recirculation and reuse of books. Prior to the event, a three-week book collection drive received enthusiastic response from members, bringing in books covering diverse genres such as parent-child reading, children and young adult titles, education and personal growth, novels and inspirational works.

During the event, participants browsed the shelves for their favourite titles, giving pre-loved books the opportunity to begin new journeys with new readers. The initiative not only put green reading into practice, but also encouraged reading as a sustainable, shareable and enduring way of life.
